Recruit Malta is currently helping our client, a well established Insurance company based in Malta, in finding the perfect candidate to join their team as an accountant.

What will you do as an accountant?

You will be responsible for Responsible for preparing Motor claims reconciliation, Cumulative claims bordereaux, Reinsurance and profit commission workings, Variance analysis on claims and reinsurance figures on a quarterly basis, Actuarial reports to be sent out to the group and Solvency II.
You will also be required to
• Prepare monthly management accounts, to be reviewed by Financial Controller prior to sharing with Management Team.
• Analysing profitability by class of business.
• Prepare quarterly group deliverables for review by Financial Controller.
• Prepare yearly statistical data to be channelled to Malta Insurance Association and submit to Financial Controller for review.
• Analyse market results on a yearly basis to identify potential growth opportunities and submit to Financial Controller.
• Preparation of ad-hoc reports requested by management and discuss financial concepts whilst interpreting the impact of accounting decisions on the company.
• Providing oversight, assistance and guidance to other team members within the Finance department.
• Close collaboration with other departments within the Company.
• Review and interpret technical accounting standards so as to present accurate financial information to internal and external stakeholders.

What makes you a great Accountant?

• Partially/ Fully Qualified Accountant with ACCA or similar
• Fluent in both English and Maltese languages;
• Cultivates a sense of initiative amongst team members with the aim of identifying leaner processes.
• Knowledge of the insurance market is not required but considered an asset.
• Ability to work under minimum supervision.

Salary expectation is within €28K-€32K, depending on the individual’s experience and expertise.
